Cutter Gauthier and Adam Fantilli’s prices have gone up
NHL Network: Elliotte Friedman notes that the contracts for Cutter Gauthier and Adam Fantilli will higher thanks to Leo Carlsson and Macklin Celebrini‘s huge deals, as well as Connor Bedard‘s. Beckett Sennecke will be extension eligible in a year, and that will be something the Anaheim Ducks will need to keep in mind.

Corey Schneider: “I got a question. A lot’s been made about the Leo Carlsson and Macklin Celebrini extensions, rightfully so. Has that really thrown teams into a tailspin in terms of what the market is? We knew, we knew the numbers were going to go up. I don’t think we knew they were going to go this quickly.
And now you look at the (Cutter) Gauthier’s and the (Adam) Fantilli’s saying, ‘Well, we’re worth almost what they’re worth.’ And you’re looking at the (Cale) Makar’s and the (Quinn) Hughes’s saying, ‘Well, if those kids got that, we’re worth more.’ And is that really kind of gummed up teams’ plans in terms of what guys are actually worth right now?”

Friedman: “Corey, I think it’s totally true, and I think if you have anybody you should be complaining to today, it’s your parents for having you 10 years too old.”
Schneider: “Goalies aren’t getting paid, Elliotte, so that’s okay.”
Friedman: “Yeah, don’t, don’t worry. Like, it all, it all goes up. Like everybody goes up.”
But you know, Corey, I mean, you know, you played. You heard a lot of these conversations in dressing rooms. I think you’re 100% right. Like, you know, you take a look, let’s take a look at a couple of the situations. You know, first of all, you know, Connor Bedard obviously indicated he wasn’t interested in offer sheet, signed for 15 (million).
But I think with two negotiations, that’s affected are Cutter Gauthier and also Adam Fantilli. You know Cutter Gauthier scored 41 goals last year. And maybe he’s not expecting to make 18 that Carlsson made, or 18.8 that Celebrini made, but, you know, maybe he’s now looking at it and saying, ‘Well, I’m a 15 or 16 guy.’ And I think Anaheim, which has already been hit by Carlsson’s number, it’s going to be, it’s a challenge for them to navigate through that. And maybe another player like Beckett Sennecke is eligible for an extension in a year.

And I think with Fantilli, it’s the same kind of thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re looking at, okay, well, if Carlsson is 18 and Bedard’s 15, I’d like to be in that range, and I’m sure Columbus is probably in about the 12 or 12 and a half range.
So you, you have to work your way through all of this stuff. I absolutely think it’s a factor.”
