Idris also helped PEOPLE's Janine Rubenstein accessorize for the evening, sending her two pieces from his brand for the 98th Academy Awards

Damson Idris is a man of many talents!
The F1 actor, 34, spoke with PEOPLE's Janine Rubenstein ahead of the 2026 Academy Awards on March 15 and opened up about a passion project of his: creating jewelry! On the red carpet, Idris sported one of the pieces he made with special significance for his Oscar-nominated film, F1.
On the pocket of his double-breasted suit jacket, Idris wore an intricate, sparkling brooch, comprised of a 7.4-carat heated blue diamond, with 41 white diamonds surrounding it. The one-of-a-kind piece is part of Idris's jewelry brand, Didris.

"I made it specifically for tonight," Idris told PEOPLE. "There's a little F1 engraved in there, as good luck."
Idris's F1, which debuted in June 2025, received four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing and Best Sound, the last of which the picture won. The film follows fictitious veteran F1 driver Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) in a redemption arc, alongside rookie driver Joshua Pierce, played by Idris.

The actor then called attention to the bracelet and necklace Rubenstein donned for the carpet — both of which Idris lent her for the Academy Awards! Rubenstein and Idris were at the MPTF pre-Oscars party (at which PEOPLE was a presenting sponsor) and, upon learning Rubenstein didn't have any jewelry selected for the big night, Idris offered to accessorize her with some of his own pieces.
Idris "literally showed up at my house this morning" with the Didris pieces, Rubenstein shared.
The cuff bracelet featured a unique monogram of the brand's minimalist logo throughout, and the necklace, Idris explained, is called "Mother's Necklace" — which was perfect for the occasion, as March 14 is also Mother's Day in the United Kingdom.

His whole jewelry brand is a tribute to his own mother, Silifat Idris, he tells PEOPLE. "I made [Didris] as homage to my mother, who used to buy and sell gold in her twenties," Idris said, adding that creating jewelry is an "equal passion of mine."
Idris previously told PEOPLE at the 2025 Met Gala that his mother "really taught me about the importance of elegance," and he wanted to honor her by "picking up where she left off with her dream and passion, which she sacrificed to raise all of us."
