Shahid Kapoor, who has entertained the audience with his multiple avatars in movies like ‘Haider,’ ‘Jab We Met,’ ‘Kabir Singh’ and more, started 2025 with a high-octane cop drama ‘Deva.’ Helmed by Malayalam director Rosshan Andrews, who has made his debut in Bollywood with this action drama, the movie also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead. It was released on the last day of January, and after 5 days run at the box office, the movie can be seen trying to reach the Rs. 25 crore mark.
According to the Sacnilk report, the opening day collection of ‘Deva’ was Rs.5.5 crore net in India. The weekend saw a rise in footfall in the theaters, and the film was able to make ₹6.4 crore and ₹7.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, on Monday, there was a drop of more than 60 percent as the movie minted only Rs. 2.75 crore, and as per the early estimates on Tuesday, it made a business of Rs.2.35 crore. The collection of the movie as we speak, is Rs. 24.25 crore nett in India.
At the same time, it is worth noting that despite the drop, the film has outperformed Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force.’ The latter is enjoying its second week at the box office and on Tuesday, its collection was Rs.1.35 crore, whereas ‘Deva’ made Rs. 2.35 crore.

‘Deva’ follows ACP Dev Ambre, played by Shahid Kapoor, a police officer grappling with memory loss as he investigates the murder of his best friend. Pooja Hegde portrays his love interest, Diya Sathaye, who is a journalist. The cast also includes notable performances from Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait. The director has made considerable changes to the film’s climax compared to the original Malayalam version.
Further, if we talk about the review of the movie, then Times Of India gave the movie a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. Our review reads – “Director Rosshan Andrrews sets the stage for a gripping whodunnit right from the opening scene…Over the course of 156 minutes, the screenplay team—Bobby–Sanjay, Abbas Dalal, Hussain Dalal, Arshad Syed, and Sumit Arora—takes you through the various layers and shades of Dev, and the unraveling of the mystery.”
