Google has introduced Gemini to all desktop versions of Chrome for users in the United States.
This expansion makes the AI assistant accessible on both Windows and macOS systems for users who have English as their preferred language setting.
The Gemini feature can explain complex web content directly from within the Chrome browser. A small icon appears in the top-right corner of the window, which allows users to access explanations or summaries of the content they are viewing on a webpage.

Additionally, Gemini can operate across multiple open tabs, which helps compare and condense information from different sources simultaneously.
There is also integration between Gemini and widely used Google services. Actions like booking calendar events, viewing map locations, or interacting with videos are possible without switching between tabs or apps.
This is meant to reduce the need to leave the current browser window while completing simple tasks.
Another update includes the introduction of AI Mode into the Chrome address bar. This tool allows for more detailed queries, including follow-up questions that can help with deeper research.
Chrome will also suggest related questions based on the page’s content, which provides summaries and options to continue exploring through AI Mode.
