Ravichandran Ashwin admitted that his performance in IPL 2025 was below expectations after a fan asked him to part ways with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) following a disappointing season. CSK, who paid Rs 9.75 crore for Ashwin, finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in their history and missed the playoffs. Ashwin took only seven wickets and scored 33 runs in nine matches.During a YouTube live session, a fan commented, “Hi dear Ashwin, with lots of love, please leave my lovely CSK family.” Rather than ignore the remark, Ashwin acknowledged his struggles and said he understood the sentiment behind the fan’s message. He emphasised that he, too, wants the best for the team and is committed to returning stronger next season.“I understand the love behind that message. I want to make it clear that I also care deeply about the team. I won’t let this campaign be in vain. I’ve worked hard and know where I need to improve. In particular, I’ve leaked too many runs in the powerplay and will work on adding more options to my bowling next season. If I’m given the ball, I’ll bowl; if I’m asked to bat, I’ll do that too. I’m committed to giving my best,” he said.
Ashwin went on to say that his connection to CSK runs deeper than many realise, stating he has never felt so disheartened as an IPL player. I’ve seen the highs with this team, and this is the first time I’ve felt such sadness. That’s why I’ve been sitting alone and crying.
