India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has slipped to the No. 2 spot in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, overtaken by England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt. Known for her calm temperament, graceful strokeplay, and consistency at the top, Mandhana had reclaimed the No. 1 position in June and impressed in the recent WODI series, but narrowly lost her crown in the latest update.

Smriti Mandhana slips to second spot despite brilliance performance against England

England’s experienced all-rounder Nat Sciver delivered a stellar performance in the recently concluded Women’s ODI series against India. Although England lost the series 2-1, Sciver once again proved why she’s regarded as one of the most dependable batters in world cricket, scoring 160 runs in three matches at an impressive average of 53, including a top score of 98. Even before that, she delivered another brilliant performance against West Indies women on the home soil.

Meanwhile, Mandhana was overtaken by Nat Sciver by just 3 points, with the England all-rounder now at 731 compared to Mandhana’s 728. Mandhana, who scored 115 runs at an average of 38 in the recently concluded series, played a key role in India’s 2-1 triumph just a week ago, showcasing her consistency and class under pressure.

Other India batters moves up in the WODI rankings

Another notable movement in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Rankings comes from the Indian camp, where captain Harmanpreet Kaur has made a significant leap. Her dazzling and match-winning century of 102 runs in 84 balls in the final ODI against England has propelled her 10 spots up the rankings to 11th place among batters. Moreover, Jemimah Rodrigues also saw improvement, moving up two positions to 13th following consistent contributions throughout the series. Meanwhile, young wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has gained the most, climbing nine slots to reach a career-best 39th position with 516 rating points—highlighting India’s strong batting capabilities.
