Matthew Lawrence is singing his girlfriend’s praises after competing on the Masked Singer.
The 45-year-old—who was unmasked as Paparazzo on the April 16 episode of the competition series—confirmed TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas gave him tips before he performed one of her R&B group’s own songs, “Unpretty.”
“She’s a pro. I mean, it’s like getting advice from the best out there,” Matthew—who started dating Chilli in 2022—told E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “She told me a story about how Prince told her how when you perform, you want to go out there and you want to come out of the gates, but if you do that, you lose your air by the end of the song. And I’m like, it’s great advice, Prince, wow.”
Matthew—a top six finalist—said he was the one who suggested performing “Unpretty,” calling it a “guilty pleasure song” that he used to sing a lot in the shower after TLC first released the single in 1999, becoming one of the biggest hits for the Grammy-winning group.
