'MS Dhoni said, "You are not dumb; I am the one who trusted you"': India pacer recalls on his latest Bigg Boss appearance

Indian pacer Deepak Chahar recently appeared on Big Boss and shared a memorable incident from the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) involving MS Dhoni. The incident occurred during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chennai Super Kings had set a target of 160 runs for 3 wickets in their 20 overs. Sarfaraz Khan was batting well, who went on to score 67 runs off 59 balls with four fours and two sixes that day. This was Chahar’s first experience bowling in the death overs, as he typically bowled with the new ball. MS Dhoni had given him this responsibility after careful consideration.“In that game, for the very first time, I was bowling at the death. Before that, I had the responsibility of bowling with the new ball. So after lots of consideration, Mahi bhai threw me the ball in the death, and Sarfaraz was the batter. In the preparation, we discussed the type of deliveries we need to bowl to a certain batter. The plan was to bowl a slow delivery, and I went with a leg cutter,” Chahar said. The situation became tense when Chahar’s execution didn’t go as planned. His first two deliveries resulted in no-balls, leading to eight runs without a legal delivery being bowled.“Now, my feet stopped on the first ball, and it went full toss. So, he smashed a four, and it ended up being a no-ball. The plan was right, but the execution was wrong. So, I repeated the same ball and it was again a no-ball. Eight runs came without a ball being bowled. Now, Mahi Bhai came furiously and said something to me.”“Mahi bhai said that ‘you are not dumb; I am the one who trusted you.’ I thought that this was the last time I got the chance to bowl in the death overs. In the same five balls, I gave away five runs and picked up a wicket. We won the game at the end.”Despite this incident, CSK went on to win the match by 22 runs. Chahar had an impressive season in 2019. He finished as the third-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 17 innings, maintaining an average of around 22 and an economy rate under seven. The video of Chahar sharing this story on Big Boss has gained significant attention on social media platforms.
