The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a one-time relaxation for candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) counselling 2025. Under this special provision, eligible candidates can resign from their allotted seats without losing their security deposit.According to a notice issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), candidates can complete the resignation process from July 31 to August 4, 2026 by visiting their allotted colleges.The MCC said this relaxation has been granted under exceptional circumstances and should not be treated as a precedent for future counselling rounds.
Resignation must be processed online
Candidates who wish to resign from their Round 1 seats must visit their allotted institutes within the given timeline. They can also collect their original documents after completing the resignation process.The committee has clarified that the resignation must be generated online through the MCC portal by the concerned college authorities. Any resignation accepted offline by a college will be treated as null and void.
FAIMA welcomes the decision
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has welcomed the MCC’s decision, saying it will benefit eligible candidates.In a post on X, the doctors’ body appreciated the one-time relaxation and urged candidates to complete the resignation process within the prescribed schedule.FAIMA also requested the MCC to ensure that the remaining counselling process is completed smoothly so that specialist doctors can begin their training without further delay.
Candidates advised to complete the process on time
The MCC has advised all eligible candidates to complete the online resignation process between July 31 and August 4, 2026. It has also reiterated that this is a special one-time measure and will not apply to future counselling rounds.Meanwhile, the committee is expected to announce the NEET Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 counselling schedule soon for candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and other undergraduate medical courses under the All India Quota (AIQ).Read the official notice here.
