    NHL Injuries: Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Oilers, Rangers, Penguins, Maple Leafs, Jets, and More

    NHL: Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris could return this weekend, according to coach Lindy Ruff: “Not quite ready yet,” Ruff said. “I wouldn’t rule out.”

    Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin is still not practicing.

    Walt Ruff: Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal missed practice with an illness. Defenseman K’Andre Miller and goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov (undisclosed) weren’t on the ice.

    NHL: Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi was placed on the IR with a lower-body injury retroactive to November 14th.

    NHL Injuries: Blackhawks, Blue Jackets, Panthers, Rangers, Senators, Lightning, Leafs, and More

    Jeff Svoboda: Columbus Blue Jackets coach Dean Evason said that he expects defenseman Zach Werenski to skate this morning and see where he’s at. He was “working through some stuff (yesterday). Forwards Kirill Marchenko and forward Mathieu Olivier were seeing doctors yesterday. Forward Sean Monahan was given a maintenance day, “but he’s dealing with some stuff as well.” Forward Boone Jenner and defenseman Erik Gudbranson are skating and progressing.

    Tom Gazzola: Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is expected to return to the lineup this weekend. Forward Kasperi Kapanen is getting close to being ready to return.

    Gerry Moddejonge: Oilers forward Trent Frederic left last night’s game in the third period after blocking a shot. There was no update after the game.

    Amanda Stein: New Jersey Devils forward Evgenii Dadonov is doubtful for tonight’s game. He suffered an injury on Monday night and wasn’t any better yesterday.

    Stefen Rosner: New York Islanders coach Patrick Roy said that forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau (upper-body) hasn’t started skating since he suffered his injury. Forward Casey Cizikas was given a maintenance day yesterday, but should be good for tonight.

    Peter Baugh: New York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick was placed on the IR with a lower-body injury. Quick did skate on his own yesterday. Defenseman Will Borgen and forward J.T. Miller practiced in a no-contact jersey.

    Seth Rorabaugh: Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Noel Acciari, Justin Brazeau, and Filip Hallander skated before practice. All three are on the IR.

    Pens Inside Scoop: Penguins forward Bryan Rust missed practice with an illness.

    Curtis Pashelka: San Jose Sharks forward Tyler Toffoli didn’t practice yesterday.

    Stefen Rosner: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pontus Holmberg is still on the IR. His return seems imminent.

    Eduardo A. Encina: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point and defenseman Erik Cernak weren’t on the ice yesterday. Defensemen Victor Hedman and Ryan McDonagh still haven’t joined the main group at practice.

    NHL: Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that Cernak (undisclosed) is going to miss a “significant” amount of time. Point is “dicey” to return tonight, according to Cooper.

    NHL Rumors: Predators Scouting the Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, and the Vancouver Canucks

    Terry Koshan: Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies, and Nicolas Roy took part in their pre-practice drills as extras.

    • NHL: All three are travelling with the team on their five-game road trip. Coach Craig Berube yesterday: “It’s good that they were out there and finished practice and went through all the drills. So yes, that’s where they’re at. So that means yes, maybe .”

    Kelly Moore: Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk skated on his own before practice.

    Winnipeg Jets PR; Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was placed on the IR retroactive to November 19th.
