Seravalli: “… because sources indicate that 20, two-zero teams of the 31 others in the NHL have called the Calgary Flames on Blake Coleman already this season.
Now, they’re, they’re not in a rush to move him. And so it’s going to take something good and interesting to make the Calgary Flames jump. But believe it or not, right now, for as much as we’ve talked about, Nazem Nazem in the center position, yeah, Blake Coleman, with a year left at $4.9 million bucks, has actually received more interest so far than Nazem Kadri, which is interesting.

So how do you, like am I reading that correctly? Like, the Stars don’t have unlimited future resources to spend because they’ve been so aggressive already on the trade market.”
Brien Rea: “Well, it’s not just the Stars. I think a couple of things. You look at, Nazem Kadri and the four or five years he still has left on his contract, at the contract hit (three years at $7 million per). That’s a lot for any team to swallow, whether it’s with assets or whether it’s with their own cap situation. So I can understand why that volume isn’t louder with Nazem Kadri.

Blake Coleman, I view in the same prism as Mason Marchment. Veteran forward, middle-six, 20-goal potential, not just playoff experience, Stanley Cup final experience with Tampa Bay.
He is a tailor-made trade chip for somebody to go get. And is tight and messy as the Eastern Conference has been and the bottom part of the Western Conference around the wild card picture. I’m not surprised that at least 20 teams have called about him, because everybody’s going to be looking for somebody to get them two extra points to get to that one extra playoff spot, given how tight everything is.
