The Predators had tried to sign him coming out of the draft last year, but he wanted to go to Michigan State. He’s eligible to sign an entry-level contract now.

Pat Steinberg: Mentioned on the weekend that the Calgary Flames are leaning toward not bringing Quinnipiac’s Ethan Wyttenbach out of college this year. The earliest the Flames would be able to sign Abram Wiebe would be the 11th of April, as he’s off to the Frozen Four.

The Detroit Red Wings may want to sign Trey Augustine and Max Plante
** Update – Trey Augustine signs an ATO with Grand Rapid’s and will have a three-year entry-level deal beginning in 2026-27.
The Fourth Period: The Detroit Red Wings could sign two drafted players out of college when their seasons are over – goaltender Trey Augustine of Michigan State and Max Pante of Minnesota-Duluth. It’s believed the Red Wings have an entry-level contract offer ready for Augustine.
Augustine was drafted in the second round, 41st overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. Plante was drafted in the second round, 47th overall of the 2024 NHL draft.
