Patrick Walden, best known as the original guitarist of the ’00s English rock band Babyshambles, has died. He was 46.
Walden’s former bandmates announced his death on Saturday morning (local time) in a heartbreaking social media post. No cause of death was shared.
“It is with deep regret and sadness that we share the news of Patrick Walden’s death,” the joint statement from the band began.

“We feel very fortunate to have known, loved and worked with him and we kindly ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times.”
The tribute was signed by Babyshambles members Pete Doherty, Drew McConnell , Mik Whitnall and Adam Ficek.

Babyshambles was formed more than two decades ago in London.
The band was around from 2003, releasing their self-titled debut 7″ in 2004.
The original lineup featured Doherty on vocals, Walden on guitar, Gemma Clarke on drums and McConnell on bass.

Ficek joined the group in 2005, replacing Clarke.
The band was best known for hits like F–k Forever, Killamangiro and Delivery.
Walden left the group in 2006. They then officially disbanded in 2014.

Across his career, Walden had also played guitar for English singer James Blunt.

“One of the greatest indie guitarists I’ve ever seen and a stalwart of the band in its peak,” one person remembered Walden on X (formerly Twitter).
“Babyshambles have to be one of the most influential bands in my life and Patrick obviously played a huge part in that,” another wrote.
