As soon as I turn on my heat in the winter, I know it’s only a matter of time before I’m dealing with parched skin and a stuffy nose. A few years ago, I finally decided to build what I refer to as my “winter self-care arsenal.”
One of the first products I added to the lineup was a deeply moisturizing overnight mask that leaves my face soft and radiant. But since it only delivers skin-deep results, I’ve also invested in a humidifier, shower steamers, and a heated eye mask.
Below are my favorite home and beauty essentials for relieving dry skin and congestion this winter — and they’re almost all under $50 at Amazon right now.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask
Amazon
After using this Clinique mask for the past two winters (and now year-round), I can say it’s one of the most slept-on nighttime skincare products. It lives up to its name, considering it’s one of the only beauty products that ever gave me overnight results. Every morning, it leaves my skin plump, soft, and radiant. I’ve recently noticed that it’s effective at calming redness — and as someone who has sensitive skin — acne, and dry skin patches. That’s a huge win for me.
Although it’s more than what I’d like to spend, the tube lasts me six to nine months with nightly application. Plus, it doubles as a neck cream, so that means I’m already saving money by eliminating a second product in my nighttime routine.
Pure Daily Care NanoSteamer Face Steamer
Amazon
For me, a facial steamer does double-duty: It opens up my pores to better absorb serums and moisturizers, plus it feels great when I have a stuffy nose or dry eyes. This Pure Daily steamer has an ultrasonic vaporizer that releases fine mist and gently hydrates skin. It has a 30-milliliter tank that lasts for 30-minute sessions, and it’s easy to fill and empty.
It’s Amazon’s best-selling facial steamer with more than 31,000 five-star ratings, including from one shopper who called it the “best addition” to their “skincare routine” because it makes at-home facials “feel just like a professional spa treatment.”
Vicks VapoShower Plus Shower Steamers
Amazon
These Vicks Shower Steamers (similar to the ones recently seen on Landman) can help relieve chest and sinus congestion with soothing vapors. I’ve also used these steamers to relieve weather-related headaches and for when I catch a cold.
Simply toss one tablet under hot water to breathe in eucalyptus, menthol, and camphor. They last for around 20 minutes in the shower with the curtain or door closed to trap the vapors. Once dissolved, they won’t leave any staining or residue around the shower, either.
