Billionaire media mogul Tyler Perry has revealed why he fired his aunt and financially cut off his family.
Perry revealed he was forced to fire his aunt because she wasn’t taking her job seriously, in a conversation on the YouTube series Den of Kings.
“I fired my aunt,” he said. “She said she wanted a job, she would always call asking for money, I would send her the money.”

“I was like listen, I want to help you build this thing, not be welfare to you, so let me give you a job.
“She wasn’t coming in, she was calling in (sick) all the time, so I was like, okay, you gotta go.
“You want me to hand you the money, but you don’t want to work for it… that doesn’t work for me.”
He said his tough love approach to money was to ensure his family was “handicapped” by his success.

The mogul and father said he takes a similar approach with his 10-year-old son – if he wants something, he has to do chores to earn it.
Perry revealed that after his mum passed away in 2009, he sent letters to every member of his family telling them they had to get jobs within 60 days.
He said he wasn’t going to support them anymore, and they eventually did get jobs.
”And it wasn’t even jobs where they made a lot of money, but it was a job,” he said.
“It was something else for them to do, feel some pride in. That’s the same thing I would want someone to do for me.”

The billionaire said he had family members who got angry with him because he wouldn’t give them $1 million.
Perry’s net worth is over $1.4 billion, according to Forbes.
The media mogul amassed his wealth by owning 100 per cent of all the work he creates, including films, television shows and stage plays.
