‘Forevermore’ was originally released on March 9, 2011 and in modern Whitesnake times, a 3 year gap is like a week as the gap between ‘Good to Be Bad’ and the previous studio album was 11 years. David Coverdale and Doug Aldrich wrote the entire album together as David likes to sit with his guitarist and come up with the songs just as he did with Vandenberg and Sykes.  The two tried to capture an album that was rooted in the early Snake albums with that blues rock feel and soak it in the modern rock of today.  Of course, the sprinkled a little of the late 80’s in some songs to not alienate anyone.

The line-up to the band has some changes to it. Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach are still unchanged from the line-up of the last album.  However, we have had turnover in the rhythm section as we now have Michael Devin on Bass and Brian Tichy on drums.  A pretty lethal duo.  One thing I noticed is that Timothy Drury has been relegated down to a Special Guest for this album when he was a band member on the last…Interesting.  A one cool special guest on this is Jasper Coverdale, David’s son, who supplies some backing vocals….David must be proud!

Here we are a mere 14 years later and we get a Super Deluxe Edition box set called ‘Forevermore (Revisited, Remixed, Remastered)’. The album came out on September 26, 2025 and brings a 4 CD set and 1 Blu-ray to celebrate another Whitesnake release. You get the usual suspects on a David Coverdale box set including a brand new remix of the album, a remastered version of the album, a disc of alternate and unreleased tracks as well as the prized ‘Evolutions’ disc which we will talk about soon enough. You also get a Blu-Ray with lots of videos, a 60-page book, a replica tour book and a poster. Lots and lots of goodies so let’s dive right in to the set.

    DISC 1: 2025 REMIX:

One thing that David likes to do with some of these box sets is do a brand new mix on the album highlighted. He likes it so much in fact, he makes it the first disc and rearranges the track list as well. The Remix doesn’t change anything dramatically, just little nuances here and there, but it does give it a full, richer tone, slick productions and even throws in a few elements here in there with guitar sounds, keyboard sounds and whatnots. For me, since the album isn’t as old as a lot of his others, I don’t know it as intimately as say a ‘Slide It In’ or ‘1987’, so I don’t really know if I could pick out the differences from the original mix back in 2011 For me, this is sort of a waste of time and pointless exercise as there was nothing wrong with the original mix to me. I listen to the first disc usually once and then don’t revisit. Now, he does throw in a few bonus tracks including two Unzipped remixes featuring the Hook City Strings with “Easier Said Than Done” and “Forevermore”.

    DISC 2: 2025 REMASTERED ‘FOREVERMORE’:

When I reviewed this album originally, I stated the back half of the album is way better than the first so hang in there as it will pay off, but over time, I have found this album to be enjoyable. There are some essential, classic Whitesnake songs on here worth price of admission including the title track, “Love Will Set You Free”, “Fare the Well”, “Dogs in the Street” and “Whipping Boy Blues”. But in 2011, I was happy to get anything new from David so I still throw them on every now and again. Where the Remix had two bonus tracks of newly mixed Unzipped songs, the same two songs are on here, but are the original mixes of those songs.

DISC 3: ALTERNATE MIXES, NEVERMORE, LIVE & WSTV

There are a lot of tracks here on the third disc. The set of songs are alternate mixes of songs on the albums with either Guitar and Strings only, guitars only, alternate guitars, a Doug solo, a Brian Tichy (Tichyfied) mix and some original Unzipped tracks. But that isn’t all. The coolest set of tracks are the Nevermore: DC & Doug Demos. These are a handful of riffs and melodies that David and Doug worked on during their sessions, but maybe nothing came of them. They range from around a minute to two minutes long. Not complete works, however, completely cool. The last set of tracks are the Forevermore live tracks from the ‘Made in Japan’ live album and then some from something called Whitesnake TV from August 14, 2012. Really cool stuff.

    DISC 4: EVOLUTIONS

Now here is the real reason we love these box sets and that is the brilliant idea of “Evolutions”. “Evolutions” is a concept of taking a song from where it originally started and showing the growth in development along the way to where it is a fully flushed out finished piece. For example, a song might start off with an acoustic guitar and David Coverdale’s vocals, sometimes it is just an instrumental section as the lyrics aren’t done, and then instruments are added as it goes, the sound gets fuller, the mix gets cleaner and you can see from start to finish the stages of the song. I even love when you hear David talking, throwing out ideas or whatever, but it is some cool behind the scenes stuff. It is a fantastic concept and the one disc that gets played the most for me. You get that same treatment on each song and it doesn’t get old. You hear early solos or even different styles then how the song wound up…it is exciting and adventurous and a great journey to be on.

    DISC 5: BLU-RAY

Another disc I enjoy a lot is the Blu Ray Disc. It contains a bunch of music videos including not simply a couple of videos for songs on the album, but 11 promo videos including some of the Unzipped songs. If that isn’t enough for you, there are the ‘Made in Japan’ live videos for the songs from ‘Forevermore’. There are a couple of Starkers songs (acoustic if you are familiar with Whitesnake) from Wolverhampton and Westbury. Those Whitesnake TV songs on the CD are in video form here which is cool. Lastly, you get a bunch of behind the scenes videos on the Making of Forever, a Track-by-Track commentary, a Making of video for the “Love Will Set You Free” promo video and a ‘Made in Japan’ teaser. All great stuff to see.

    60-Page Hardbound Book:

The book contains a brand new interview with David Coverdale on all things ‘Forevermore’ including something that was very disappointing to David that Frontiers records did. You get lyrics to the songs, credits, thank-you’s and lots of great pictures during that era. I also love the fact you get the covers of all the magazines that David was on for the support of the album. A fun, informational book.

    REPLICA TOUR BOOK:

Now, if you missed the tour or if you caught the tour and didn’t pick up the Tour Program, well, here is in all its glory…well, it is shrunk down to fit in the box set. However, still really cool to get all the photos from the tour book. As a collector of tour books, these kind of things are pretty cool for me. Lots of great pictures and very few words…that is right up my alley.

    POSTER:

The last thing you get is a poster of the all the different Whitesnake logs I assume were used during this album era. Actually, it is stupid and a total waste of paper. A band picture of Whitesnake’s musicians of the time would’ve been so much cooler and relevant. This is not.

And that is everything you get in the box set. A pretty extensive set even if it repeats a lot of songs over and over and over and over. David has me in on these box sets hook line and sinker. It is pretty much, here’s a new box set and my wallet opens and the money is gone. I will say out of the 7 so far, this is not one of my least favorite as there isn’t much new, no live show, no unreleased songs and an unnecessary remix album. For that, My Overall Score is only a 3.5 out 5.0 Stars. The Evolution disc for me is worth it all (plus the book and the Blu-Ray). Here is everything in one shot…

And lastly, here are all the box sets he’s released. I’m not sure we will get anymore, but I do think a Coverdale/Page box set would look nice to top it all off!!
