The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has once again highlighted the importance of world-class all-rounders, with several of the game’s biggest names expected to influence matches with both bat and ball. Among them is Australia veteran Ellyse Perry, whose longevity and consistency have made her one of the most respected cricketers in the women’s game. Away from the on-field action, Perry recently took part in a fun blind-ranking challenge shared by Star Sports on X, where she had to rank five elite all-rounders without knowing which names would appear next. The result sparked plenty of discussion, with New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr eventually taking the top spot on Perry’s list.

The challenge began with Perry’s own name appearing first. Without knowing which players would follow, the Australian great placed herself in fifth position, leaving the higher spots open for others. The second name revealed was England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is leading her side in the ongoing tournament. Perry slotted the experienced English all-rounder into second place, acknowledging her remarkable impact across formats and her ability to deliver under pressure.

Next up was India’s Deepti Sharma, whom Perry ranked fourth. Deepti’s all-round abilities have made her one of India’s most dependable players, particularly in T20 cricket where her economical bowling and handy lower-order batting often prove decisive. The fourth reveal was New Zealand veteran Sophie Devine. Perry positioned Devine in third place, reflecting the Kiwi star’s reputation as one of the most destructive batters and reliable seam-bowling options in women’s cricket.

Finally, New Zealand skipper Kerr’s name appeared, leaving the No. 1 position available. Perry happily assigned Kerr the top spot, praising a player who has become one of the leading all-rounders in the modern game. Interestingly, Perry admitted she had expected another player’s name to appear in the final slot.

“I thought you’d put someone else in there, Annabel Sutherland. But I’m pretty happy with that,” said Perry.

Her final blind ranking stood as:

    • Amelia Kerr
    • Nat Sciver-Brunt
    • Sophie Devine
    • Deepti Sharma
    • Ellyse Perry

Expectations remain sky-high from the tournament’s premier all-rounders

With the Women’s T20 World Cup entering a crucial phase, the spotlight remains firmly on the game’s elite all-rounders. Kerr is expected to spearhead New Zealand’s campaign with her match-winning leg-spin and increasingly dependable batting, making her one of the most influential players in the competition. Sciver-Brunt continues to carry England’s hopes as both captain and senior performer, with fans expecting her to produce impactful innings and crucial breakthroughs.

Devine, despite her vast experience, remains a player capable of changing games in a matter of overs through explosive hitting and disciplined bowling. For India, Deepti is viewed as a vital cog whose ability to contribute in multiple departments often gives the team balance in high-pressure contests. Meanwhile, Perry’s experience, composure and knack for delivering in marquee tournaments ensure that she remains under constant scrutiny from supporters and analysts alike.
