Fans didn’t spare the India National Cricket Team T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, after his flop show in the first match of the five-game series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
The Indian captain didn’t look comfortable in the middle and was dismissed for 12 by the South Africa National Cricket Team pacer Lungi Ngidi at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Suryakumar has not looked the same batter since becoming the T20I skipper. His batting form has significantly declined since becoming the captain, and he has not been able to play good knocks.

The right-handed batsman has tried everything, but he has not managed to play high-impact knocks for the India National Cricket Team in a format that he once dominated.
Suryakumar, who is the former World No.1 batsman, was cleaned by Lungi Ngidi in the third over of the match. On the fourth ball of the over, Ngidi bowled a length delivery to the batter on the off-stump.
Suryakumar tried to chip it through the line over mid-on, but his timing on it was very poor, and he was caught by Aiden Markram.
In his last 24 T20I Innings, he has registered scores of 20(10), 1(4), 39*(24), 1(5), 12(13), 5(11), 0(3), 47*(37), 7*(2), 2(3), 0(4), 14(7), 12(7), 0(3), 1(4), 4(9), 21(17), 75(35), 8(10), 29(14), 8(9), 26(12), 58(26), and 12 (11).
Overall in T20Is in 2025, Suryakumar has scored just 196 runs in 16 innings at an average of 15.07 and a strike rate of 126.45, with the highest score of 47*.

Speaking on Star Sports ahead of the match, former wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel stated that Suryakumar needs to get back among runs. He elaborated:
“It is true that if you look at Suryakumar Yadav, the batter, there is a need for runs. He got a start in Australia, and we got some glimpses. We have seen some innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well, but those big runs haven’t come.”
“Talking about the leg-side, the flick is his favorite shot. He picks the length quickly and is very fast with his footwork. If we look at his scoring areas, 50 percent comes from the fine leg to the leg-side region.
“Most of the shots you hit in those areas are off the balls that are bowled into the stumps. That means you are taking a lot of risk. I feel he should take some time, and if that happens, we will again see him score those runs on the leg side.”
