    Serie A

Inter extended their lead at the top of Serie A to eight points with a 2-0 win over struggling Cremonese on Sunday.

Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski both found the net inside the opening 31 minutes to give Cristian Chivu’s men all three points at Stadio Giovanni Zini.

However, the game was marred when the action had to be halted after Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero was struck by a firecracker from the crowd.

Audero was able to continue for the rest of the match, despite sustaining a cut on his right leg.

The result boosts Inter’s title hopes, however, their great rivals AC Milan could close the gap to five points with victory over Bologna on Tuesday.

Elsewhere in Italy, sixth place met seventh as Como welcomed Atalanta to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia Djarum.

The visitors had to play more than 80 minutes with 10 men after Honest Ahanor was sent off after just eight minutes.

However, they were able to keep Cesc Fabregas’s men at bay to take a share of the points after a goalless stalemate.

Juventus moved to within a point of third-placed Napoli after a convincing 4-1 win against Parma.

Gleison Bremer bagged a brace, while Weston McKennie and Jonathan David added sheen to the result.

Parma had earlier equalised via an Andrea Cambiaso own goal.

The Old Lady’s rivals Torino narrowly overcame Lecce thanks to a goal from Scotland international Che Adams.

    Ligue 1

With PSG returning to the top of the table, Lyon moved level on points with third-placed Marseille following a 1-0 victory over Lille in Ligue 1.

Noah Nartey scored the only goal of the game eight minutes before half-time as Paulo Fonseca’s side extended their impressive winning run to 10 matches in all competitions.

At the other end of the table, bottom club Metz fell to a narrow defeat against Angers.

Metz got off to the worst possible start when Jean-Philipe Gbamin was shown a straight red card with just nine minutes on the clock.

Angers made the most of the numerical advantage and took the lead through Louis Mouton mid-way through the first half before seeing out the game to take all three points.

It was a game of two halves at the Allianz Riviera where Brest and Nice played out a four-goal thriller.

Brest scored twice in the opening quarter of an hour through a Romain Del Castillo penalty and Kamory Doumbia.

However, the hosts hit back after the break to level things up courtesy of Ali Abdi and Elye Wahi.

The other game saw Auxerre and Toulouse play out a goalless stalemate.

    LaLiga

In LaLiga, Real Madrid left it late to maintain the one-point gap between them and leaders Barcelona, while Real Betis took advantage of Espanyol slipping up on Saturday with a win over Valencia.

After Luis Rioja had given Valencia the lead, goals from Ezequiel Avila and former West Ham player Pablo Fornals completed the comeback to move Manuel Pellegrini’s side up to fifth in the table.

Goncalo Guedes opened the scoring for Real Sociedad in their visit to Athletic Club.

And that goal was the difference right up until the 88th minute when Inigo Galarreta levelled the scoring just five minutes after Sociedad’s Brais Mendez was sent off.

The game finished 1-1 – a result that keeps Sociedad in eighth and moves Athletic up to 11th.

The other game in the Spanish top-flight saw Getafe and Celta Vigo play out a 0-0 draw.

    Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund consolidated second spot in the table with a 3-2 victory over Heidenheim.

Dortmund fought back after a Julian Niehues brace had flipped the game on its head following Waldemar Anton’s opener.

Two goals in two second-half minutes from Serhou Guirassy – one from the penalty spot – ensured the hosts took all three points to move three points ahead of third-placed Hoffenheim and six points behind leaders Bayern.

In the other game, Stuttgart narrowly overcame Freiburg thanks to a late goal from Ermedin Demirovic.
