    The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow witnessed one of the most pulsating encounters of the IPL 2026 season on Sunday. In the 38th match of the tournament, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In a game defined by extreme momentum shifts, KKR emerged triumphant in a Super Over after both teams ended their regulation 20 overs with identical scores of 155.

    Winning the toss and electing to bowl, LSG’s local hero Mohsin Khan turned the match into a nightmare for the KKR top order. Mohsin’s lethal opening spell dismantled the visitors, as he removed Tim Seifert for a duck and Ajinkya Rahane for 10. The KKR dugout looked shell-shocked when Mohsin returned to finish with staggering figures of 5 for 23, leaving the Knight Riders reeling at 73/6 in the 11th over.

    However, where others faltered, Rinku Singh proved why he is considered the ultimate crisis man in Indian cricket. Despite the mounting pressure and wickets tumbling around him, Rinku anchored the innings with a masterclass in calculated aggression. He struck 83 off just 51 balls, a knock decorated with 7 fours and 5 towering sixes.

    Rinku’s late-over blitz, supported by a brief cameo from Sunil Narine, propelled KKR to a defendable 155/7. The final five overs were a masterclass in death batting, as Rinku accelerated from a steady 50 off 42 balls to a match-defining total, punishing the LSG bowlers who had looked so dominant earlier in the evening.

The match drifted toward a chaotic conclusion as LSG needed 8 runs off the final over. In a dramatic sequence of events involving wide reviews and high-pressure bowling by Kartik Tyagi, LSG finished on 155/8, leading to the season’s first Super Over.

    The Super Over was a tactical masterstroke by KKR captain Rahane, who entrusted the ball to the veteran Narine. Narine lived up to his ‘Magician’ moniker, bowling a sensational over that saw Nicholas Pooran clean bowled on the first ball and Markram caught by Rinku on the third. LSG managed a measly 1 run for the loss of two wickets.

    With a target of just 2 runs to win, KKR sent out their hero of the night. Rinku needed only one delivery, smashing Prince Yadav for a first-ball boundary to seal the win. The victory keeps KKR’s playoff hopes alive and leaves the Lucknow crowd in awe of a game that truly embodied the spirit of the IPL.
