Lockie Ferguson defended Kyle Jamieson over his fiery send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2026. Ferguson made the remarks after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) punished Jamieson for breaching the Code of Conduct.

Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, May 1. The Axar Patel-led team chased down the 226-run target in 19.1 overs, their highest successful run chase in IPL history. Jamieson picked up one wicket for 48 runs in his four overs during the match.

Lockie Ferguson Defends Kyle Jamieson After Fiery Send-Off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Lockie Ferguson backed Kyle Jamieson over his send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He said that Jamieson showed natural emotion after taking a crucial wicket, adding that picking up wickets in Indian conditions demands significant effort against strong top-order batters.

“Kyle’s a good mate of mine. He got pretty fired up, which is pretty understandable. Not easy to get wickets in this part of the world, and that was a big one. So I think it’s part of the game. I think fans like to see the passion,” Ferguson said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Passion Coming Out Is Great For The Game – Lockie Ferguson

Lockie Ferguson refused to criticize the disciplinary action taken against Kyle Jamieson by tournament officials. However, he said that passionate celebrations improve the viewing experience and that aggressive reactions appear even more intense on the field.

“I can’t comment on anything from a governing body point of view, but as a player, I think the passion coming out is great for the game.”

“As a fan of the game, you like to see players getting passionate, players showing emotion, players being excited to take a wicket… he’s (Kyle Jamieson) obviously a big guy too, so when a big guy has a lot of emotions, it looks even bigger.”

Riyan Parag’s 90 in Vain as Delhi Capitals Chase Down 226 in Jaipur

Rajasthan Royals posted 225/6 after electing to bat first on a good batting surface. After early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Riyan Parag scored 90 off 50 deliveries. Donovan Ferreira scored an unbeaten 47 runs off just 14 balls to lift the total to a competitive score.

Mitchell Starc picked up three wickets on his return for the Delhi Capitals. Kyle Jamieson finished with figures of 1-48 in four overs after dismissing Sooryavanshi early.

In the chase, KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka built a dominant 110-run opening partnership in 57 balls, putting the opposition bowlers under constant pressure. Rahul anchored the innings with a fluent 75 off 40 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award for his effort.

Nissanka registered his maiden IPL half-century, scoring 62 runs off 33 balls. Nitish Rana added a quick 33, as Delhi Capitals completed the chase comfortably in Jaipur.
