Nikita Kucherov has been looking for more than Kirill Kaprizov, but Julien BriseBois didn’t go over $15 million
Kevin Weekes: Was told that the Tampa Bay Lightning’s first offer to Nikita Kucherov was around $13 million. After the Leo Carlsson $18 million offer sheet and Cale Makar‘s $20 million deal, the offer changed to $15 million.
Kucherov has a great relationship with coach Jon Cooper and told his teammates he won’t be re-signing with the team.
Greg Whyshynski: “I’m not Team “Give The Guy Turning 34 Next June Whatever He Wants.”
That said, via my colleague’s reporting, JBB apparently didn’t go to the one place my sources have told me Kucherov wanted to go:
Above the $17 million AAV that Kaprizov makes. Even after the Carlsson sheet.”
NHL Rumors: Simon Edvinsson and Nikita Kucherov
Don’t expect Kucherov to leave the team like Dylan Larkin did to the Red Wings
Unlikely…

The Anaheim Ducks are in a tough spot with Beckett Sennecke and his next contract
Daily Faceoff: Carter Hutton wondering how the Anaheim Ducks are going to be able to re-sign Beckett Sennecke when his entry-level contract expires after next season.
“And you look at Beckett Sennecke, who’s got your team lead in goals. He’s got eight goals through 13 games. He’s only got two years left. He’s got this year and next year on his entry-level deal.
What do you think he’s thinking right now as he’s leading the team in goals and he’s watching these guys demand all this money? How are you supposed to win when your team is structured like that? And it’s going to be so tough.
And again, it’s wild how the script of the Anaheim Ducks and what we saw and the future, and we compared them to so many other teams, got flipped so quickly because of the offer sheet, because of the Gauthier’s situation.
Now we’re watching a team struggle where we thought this was an up-and-coming team in the Pacific. They were going to push, and now it’s just going to be a very interesting way that they can do this rebuild with players like this.
NHL Rumors: Simon Edvinsson and Nikita Kucherov
If you’re sitting there and you’re leading that team in goals, it’s really hard not to sit there and see Leo Carlsson‘s $18 million, see Cutter Gauthier‘s $13.5 (million) until 32 and 31. And you’re Beckett Sennecke being like, “What’s my number then?”
Pat Verbeek has put himself in a very very tough spot with this team that is kind of just in the mushy middle now with all these younger players.
