By Scott Cooper, updated July 31, 2026 Building a crypto startup has become less about creating every piece of technology from scratch and more about choosing the right infrastructure. Today, many companies take a more modular approach. Instead of developing an entire financial infrastructure, startups can combine specialized tools and focus their resources on the parts that directly affect users. This is where crypto APIs becomes valuable. By connecting applications to existing exchange functionality, liquidity…

Ajinkya Rahane’s career will always leave Indian cricket wondering what might have been.On paper, his numbers are respectable rather than extraordinary: an average of 38.46 across 85 Tests, 5,077 runs, twelve hundreds, twenty-six fifties. For most cricketers that would count as an outstanding career. For Rahane it somehow feels short of the mark. The figures don’t capture the quality of the batting, the weight the runs carried, or the moments they arrived in. They suggest a good Test cricketer. Anyone who actually watched him knows he was capable of far more. It’s the strangest statistical injustice of his career that…

I thought he was a wonderful, considerate person,…

60 Years of Star Trek My first stop was The Lodge, where I wish I had more time to dance, but the night was young when we got in. We mainly went there for Star Trek, but “The Last Airbender” fans were better served. Our usual activation rounds were lighter than usual, and we especially missed Hulu/FX. FX’s “American Horror Story” opted for timed limited ice cream offerings at specific locations. For Star Trek fans, also outside the convention center was “Star Fleet Command: 60 Years of Star Trek” (The Sinclair on G Street), which displayed authentic on-set props, ship…

Prices fell in June, but inflation did not disappear.  The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCEPI), the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, declined 0.1 percent in June, according to new data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. It was the first monthly decline in the index since April 2020 and a sharp reversal from the 0.5 percent increase recorded in May. Even so, the PCEPI rose at an annualized rate of 4.4 percent over the last six months and is 3.7 percent higher than a year ago. Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, continued to rise.…

There are those who view their investments as art and those who view their investments as inventory. The former often like their investments to be beautiful. They want to hang them on the wall and admire them. At a 10,000 foot level many of these folks are avid followers of Buffett. They want to buy and hold and just admire the beauty (although of course the reality is that other than a handful of positions Buffett doesn’t actually hold in that manner, but I digress). On the other hand, there are those, like me, who view their investments as inventory.…
