Sri Lanka have named their 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, scheduled to start on July 2. The first two ODIs will be played in Colombo on July 2 and 5, while the final game moves to Pallekele on July 8. The series will be followed by a three-match T20I leg, beginning July 10.
Dilshan Madushanka returns to strengthen pace unit
Fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka has returned to the ODI squad after missing the February series against Australia due to injury. He replaces Lahiru Kumara, who is now sidelined with a fitness concern. Madushanka’s comeback adds much-needed balance to Sri Lanka’s pace department, which already includes in-form seamer Eshan Malinga and Asitha Fernando.
Sadeera Samarawickrama recalled after brief hiatus
Another notable inclusion is that of Sadeera Samarawickrama, who returns to the national setup after being dropped post the November 2024 series due to inconsistent performances. The wicketkeeper-batter comes in place of Nuwanidu Fernando and will look to reclaim his place in the middle order. His experience could prove vital in anchoring the innings and rotating strike in spin-friendly conditions.

Balanced squad with mix of youth and experience
The squad features a strong core of top-order batters, including Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, and Nishan Madushka, along with captain Charith Asalanka. Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage offer middle-order solidity. Milan Rathnayake, who recently featured in the first Test in Galle, earns his maiden ODI call-up but will be monitored closely due to a side strain. He is expected to be fit before the start of the series.
Sri Lanka’s spin department remains a major strength, with Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana leading the way. Jeffrey Vandersay and Dunith Wellalage add further depth and variation to the spin attack.
