India‘s white-ball tour of Bangladesh could finally be back on track. After months of uncertainty, the white-ball series between India and Bangladesh now looks likely to go ahead. It is being said that this series is likely to get the required approval soon.

There were talks about adding three T20Is after the upcoming two-match Test series, but the BCCI rejected the proposal, citing a busy schedule and players’ workload management.

The BCCI recently announced India’s schedule for the Sri Lanka tour. India will play two Tests, with the first match starting in Galle on August 15 and the second in Colombo from August 23. Both games will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-26 cycle.
But they have not added any white-ball matches to the schedule. Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wanted India to play three T20Is after two Tests on the tour to raise the funds to help victims of Cyclone Ditwah, and even the BCCI had given some attention.
But later they decided to play only Tests in Sri Lanka. Now, a Revsportz report suggests that the BCCI wanted to keep its schedule free because a white-ball tour of Bangladesh is expected to happen in September this year. This tour was postponed last year because of India-Bangladesh tension.

But now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already included the India series in its home calendar. The proposed tour will have three ODIs and three T20Is. The BCB has even started inviting bids for the TV and digital broadcast rights, which include the white-ball matches against India. Why Bangladesh is planning for India’s tour despite BCCI silence?
However, the Bangladesh tour is still waiting for the final approval from the Indian government. Once that comes, the BCCI is expected to officially confirm the white-ball series in Bangladesh.
Earlier this year, relations between India and Bangladesh had become tense, and cricket was also affected. Bangladesh did not travel to India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, with Scotland taking their place in the tournament. But things have changed in recent months.

Relations between the two countries have improved under Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman. India has also restarted issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi citizens, showing that ties between the two nations are getting better.
With former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal becoming the new BCB president, things started improving between the two boards. Since taking charge, Tamim has supported stronger cricket relations and a fresh direction for Bangladesh cricket.
Well, the Men in Blue are currently in England for the ongoing five-match T20I series and three-match ODI series. On the other hand, Bangladesh is currently on the Zimbabwe tour for the multi-format series. Recently, they suffered an embarrassing defeat in the one-off Test in Harare.
