    Serie A

Inter Milan moved top of Serie A on goal difference following a 1-0 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Ange-Yoan Bonny struck in the sixth minute and it proved to be enough as last season’s beaten Champions League finalists held on to pick up all three points and replace Napoli at the summit of the table.

The opportunity was presented to Inter after, earlier in the day, Napoli fell to a shock 1-0 defeat against Torino.

Giovanni Simeone – son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego – grabbed the only goal of the game shortly after the half-hour mark to condemn the champions to their second league defeat this term.

Elsewhere in the Italian top flight, there were goalless stalemates in both Lecce’s game with Sassuolo and Pisa’s clash with Verona.

    Ligue 1

In Ligue 1, Marseille took full advantage of Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-3 slip-up against Strasbourg on Friday to move a point clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Mason Greenwood scored four goals as Roberto De Zerbi’s side thrashed 10-man Le Havre 6-2 in an enthralling encounter on Saturday evening.

Yassine Kechta gave Le Harve the lead after 24 minutes only for defender Gautier Lloris – brother of former Tottenham keeper Hugo – to receive a straight red card for handball in the area 10 minutes later.

It proved costly. Greenwood dispatched the penalty before going on to add another three goals in the second half.

Robinio Vaz then netted Marseille’s fifth with just minutes remaining before Abdoulaye Toure scored a consolation goal in stoppage time.

But it wasn’t to be the last action as Michael Murillo grabbed a sixth for Marseille in the dying seconds.

Lyon squandered their chance to move ahead of the champions as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Nice.

Pavel Sulc scored twice for Lyon but it did not prove to be enough as goals from Melvin Bard, Sofiane Diop and Hicham Boudaoui ensured the hosts claimed all three points.

In the other game, Monaco were held to a 1-1 draw by Angers. Folarin Balogun found the net for Monaco before Sidiki Cherif drew the home side level with five minutes remaining.

    LaLiga

With Barcelona displacing Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga for 24 hours at least, Atletico Madrid also made ground on their city rivals with a 1-0 win over Osasuna.

Thiago Almada’s goal on 69 minutes proved to be the difference as Simeone’s side moved into fourth.

Meanwhile, Villarreal and Real Betis – two teams with top-four aspirations – played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Estadi de la Ceramica.

The Yellow Submarine claimed a commanding two-goal lead thanks to Tajon Buchanan and Alberto Moleiro, only for Antony – something of a rejuvenated figure since departing Manchester United – to score twice, including a 94th-minute leveller.

The result keeps Villarreal in third but means Betis drop to fifth courtesy of Atletico’s victory.

Elsewhere in Spain, Mallorca picked up an impressive 3-1 win over Sevilla.

Ruben Vargas opened the scoring for Sevilla but a valiant second-half showing from Mallorca yielded goals from Vedat Muriqi and a Mateo Joseph brace without reply to secure an important win for the LaLiga strugglers.

    Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, aside from leaders Bayern claiming a record-equalling 11th consecutive win in all competitions, victories for RB Leipzig and Stuttgart saw them both leapfrog Dortmund in the table.

Leipzig moved into second after beating Hamburg 2-1 courtesy of goals either side of half-time from Christoph Baumgartner to make it six games unbeaten for Ole Werner’s team.

Former Arsenal man Albert Sambi Lokonga scored for Hamburg.

Stuttgart, meanwhile, fared far more comfortably in their clash with Wolfsburg, running out convincing 3-0 winners at the Volkswagen Arena.

Tiago Tomas, Max Mittelstadt and Angelo Stiller all found the net for the visitors, who move into third.

There was also a win for Leverkusen, who emerged victors in a seven-goal thriller against Mainz.

Kasper Hjulmand’s men raced into a two-goal lead through an Alejandro Grimaldo penalty and Christian Kofane goal only for Lee Jae-Sung to halve the deficit 10 minutes later.

Grimaldo doubled his tally in first-half stoppage time before Mainz again responded thanks to Nadiem Amiri’s spot-kick after 71 minutes.

Martin Terrier then added a fourth for Leverkusen late on, but again Mainz reduced the lead to one with an Armindo Sieb goal on 90 minutes to set up a nervy last few minutes.

In the other two games, Koln and Augsburg drew 1-1, while Heidenheim and Werder played out an exciting 2-2 stalemate.
