Madonna is back on top.
The superstar’s acclaimed new album Confessions II became her 10th No 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (a feat only matched by The Beatles) and made her the first female artist to score a No. 1 album in five consecutive decades.
On Monday, July 13, the Queen of Pop shared her reaction to the news on Instagram.
“Words cannot express how Grateful and Surprised I am By the incredible reception Confessions on a dance Floor has received !! Thank You -to everyone who has been a part of this and who has helped make this dream come true. Especially my fans. The Goodwill and positivity has been incredible. I’m still pinching myself. I can’t believe it’s # 1 all around the world,” she captioned her post.
Madonna added: “My dream was to make people dance this summer!! To bring people JOY! Dreams do come true. Thanks and love!”
The caption accompanied a carousel of photos from Madonna’s Club Confessions pop-up performance at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn two days prior, where guests sipped Absolut cocktails while dancing to tracks from her new record and its predecessor, 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.
Following its July 3 release, Confessions II earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike and also sparked Grammy buzz. It’s also her most personal album in years, as she looks back on her New York City origin story (“Danceteria,” “L.E.S. Girl”), pays tribute to her late brother Christopher (“Fragile”) and apologizes to her firstborn, Lola Leon, on their mother-daughter duet “The Test.”
“It’s kind of like I get possessed. The ideas come when I don’t try too hard,” Madonna recently told Graham Norton of her creative process in recording her latest chart topper.

Madonna has had a busy spring and summer promoting the album. In April, she made a surprise appearance at Coachella where she debuted her Sabrina Carpenter collab “Bring Your Love.” In June, she shut down Times Square for a pop-up performance, one day before releasing her Confessions II short film at the Tribeca Festival. Up next: She’ll co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show alongside Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira in East Rutherford, N.J.
