Napoli, PSG and Bayern all enjoyed big wins as Villarreal claimed bragging rights in LaLiga.

Napoli took advantage of AC Milan’s slip-up to go top of Serie A with a 3-1 win over Inter Milan.

Milan were held to a 2-2 draw by Pisa on Saturday, and the defending champions made no mistake in seeing off the team they edged to the Scudetto last season to move to the summit.

Stunningly thrashed 6-2 by PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday, Napoli took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne’s 33rd-minute penalty after Henrikh Mkhitaryan brought down Giovanni Di Lorenzo, though De Bruyne injured his hamstring in the act of breaking the deadlock.

McTominay puts Napoli two up in style

Scott McTominay doubled their lead in stunning fashion with a superb volley from the edge of the area just over eight minutes into the second half.

Hakan Calhanoglu halved the deficit from the penalty spot, but André-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s individual effort in the 66th minute settled the game for Antonio Conte’s side.

Napoli are a point ahead of Milan, with Inter three behind the new leaders.

Jamie Vardy scored his first goal for Cremonese in their 1-1 draw with Atalanta, putting the hosts ahead by slotting in on the rebound in the 78th minute. However, Atalanta snatched a point thanks to Marco Brescianini’s leveller six minutes later.

Como drew 0-0 at Parma, while Udinese beat Lecce 3-2 in Serie A’s other games.

Hakimi sends PSG back to summit

Achraf Hakimi was the star for Paris Saint-Germain as they returned to the top of Ligue 1 with a 3-0 win at Brest.

The full-back scored twice in the space of 10 minutes to give PSG a 2-0 lead. He opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a first-time finish from Vitinha’s precise lofted pass, before then converting from a narrow angle after linking up well with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Lee Kang-in’s handball in the area handed Brest a lifeline from the spot, but Romain del Castillo slipped in the act of taking the penalty and skewed his effort horribly high and wide.

Desire Doue rounded off the win in the 96th minute, with PSG leapfrogging Marseille in the table as their arch rivals slipped up at Lens.

Mason Greenwood put Marseille ahead in the 17th minute, but an Odsonne Edouard effort and a Benjamin Pavard own goal gave Lens a win that sends them second.

Monaco overcame Toulouse 1-0 to go fourth, a point behind Marseille.

    Bayern see off 10-man Gladbach

Bayern Munich stayed five points clear atop the Bundesliga, beating bottom club Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0.

Gladbach were reduced to 10 men when Jens Castrop was sent off for a reckless challenge on Luis Diaz in the 19th minute.

It took until the 64th minute for Bayern to break the deadlock from Joshua Kimmich, and five minutes later Raphael Guerreiro swept home to double the lead.

Kevin Stöger hit the post with a penalty as he wasted a golden chance to reduce the arrears for Gladbach, and nine minutes from the end of normal time the game was put beyond all doubt as teenager Lennart Karl became Bayern’s third-youngest Bundesliga goalscorer.

The 17-year-old scored in the Champions League in midweek and curled home from long range as Bayern maintained their 100 percent record in all competitions this season.

RB Leipzig remain Bayern’s closest challenges after winning 6-0 away at Augsburg, while Borussia Dortmund needed a 96th-minute goal from Maximilian Beier to beat Koln 1-0.

Other Bundesliga results: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 St. Pauli, Hamburg 0-1 Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim 3-1 Heidenheim

    Villarreal win derby

Third-placed Villarreal claimed the derby bragging rights over Valencia with a 2-0 win Mestalla.

Gerard Moreno, making his 300th appearance for the club, put the Yellow Submarine ahead by converting a penalty he won in the 45th minute.

Santi Comesana’s 57th-minute tap-in doubled their advantage, with 15th-placed Valencia unable to find a way back.

Elsewhere in LaLiga, Espanyol moved fourth with a 1-0 win over Elche, while Athletic Bilbao lost at home to Getafe by the same scoreline.

Girona and Real Oviedo played out a six-goal thriller in Catalonia.

A Federico Vinas penalty and a goal from Salomon Rondon had Oviedo in command, but two Cristhian Stuani penalties, either side of Azzedine Ounahi’s equaliser, looked to have secured the points for Girona.

Stuani’s second spot-kick came in the 91st minute but, seven minutes later, David Carmo secured a 3-3 draw with a penalty of his own.
