New Zealand will take on the West Indies in the first of the five-match T20I series. This article provides details about New Zealand’s Playing 11 vs West Indies for the first match of the series.

New Zealand Playing XI vs West Indies- 1st T20I, West Indies Tour of New Zealand 2025:

Openers: Devon Conway (wk), Rachin Ravindra

New Zealand would like to get off the mark in the five-match T20I series against West Indies in the first game itself to gain momentum for the rest of the series.

Kiwis would want to put on a much-improved performance, especially with the bat, after a below-par effort in most of the matches in the last two series against Australia and England.

The BlackCaps will go into the first T20I against West Indies with a new opening combination of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, as regular opener Tim Siefert has been ruled out of the series after picking up an injury while playing domestic cricket.

The team management would hope for Conway and Ravindra to click as a partnership at the top of the order and get the team off to a good start.

If the duo can lay a platform for the incoming batters, along with getting valuable runs under their belt, it will increase the home team’s chances of posting an above-par total on the board while batting first.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Mark Chapman, Tim Robinson, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner (c), Michael Bracewell, Kyle Jamieson,

If we talk about the middle order, it has a good blend of youth and experience with the presence of batters like Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham

The pair will be supported by Tim Robinson, who scored a magnificent century against Australia, although in a losing cause, and Mark Chapman, who is yet to fire in the ongoing home season and would want to do so in this particular match.

Other than the mix of young and experienced batters, one of the biggest advantage that New Zealand have is that the team bats deep.

BlackCaps has batting which extends till number nine with three all-rounders, captain Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Kyle Jamieson, who is making a comeback in international cricket after missing the ODI series against England.

    Bowlers: Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes

New Zealand comprises a decent bowling attack, which, although it doesn’t have a tearaway fast bowler but includes names who can be relied upon to do the job for the team.

The fast bowling department of the Kiwis will be handled by Jacob Duffy, who had a good ODI series against England, and will look to replicate the same performance in the first T20I against the West Indies.

Duffy will be supported by Zak Foulkes, who has also done well in the limited chances that he has had in international cricket so far, and would aim to keep up the good work.

The pace bowling duo will also have the services of fast bowling all-rounders Kyle Jamieson and James Neesham, while the spin bowling department of the team will be taken care of by Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell.
