Pierre LeBrun: Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard is week-to-week and will be re-evaluated in January. They are looking to rehab the injury and not undergo surgery.

    • Ben Pope: Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill on Bedard: “He wants to be back next week. That’s the approach that he takes: he wants to be back. He would’ve preferred I had said ‘day-to-day.’ But…the reality is we won’t let him do that before after the New Year.”

Robert Tiffin: Dallas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said that forward Tyler Seguin will have his ACL injury looked at by doctors today. If he’ll need surgery or not could be determined.

Max Bultman: Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane will be out with an upper-body injury for at least the next two games after tweaking something against the Blackhawks.

Corey Long: Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling left last night’s game in the third period after taking a shot off the arm. He’ll be evaluated today.

Dennis Bernstein: Los Angeles Kings forwards Quinton Byfield and Phillip Danault missed last night’s game with an illness.

Dan Greenspan: Los Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper left last night’s game in the first period with an upper-body injury. Kuemper was on the ice for several minutes after a collision with Stars forward Mikko Rantanen.

The Growing Connection Between the NHL and Competitive Gaming

“I saw a player come into the blue paint and run into our goaltender. That’s what I saw,” said Los Angeles coach Jim Hiller, who had no update on Kuemper’s status.

A Devils fan spotted Jack Hughes on the practice rink using a stick before yesterday’s game. Pesce & Kovacevic were skating with him as well!

Hopefully they can all return soon! ?

Mollie Walker: New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe said that he was out with a broken thumb that required surgery. He said it was broken in “many, many places” and added, “I just got to penalty box, we’re saying good fight to each other. I looked down at my thumb, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this thing’s not right.”

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot is back skating, according to coach Travis Green. Forward Shane Pinto hasn’t started skating yet, and unlikely to return before the Christmas break. Forward Lars Eller will be out “for an extended period” of time.

Sheng Peng: San Jose Sharks forwards Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev were placed on the IR. There have been no timelines given for either.

Jeremy Rutherford: St. Louis Blues forwards Jordan Kyrou (lower-body) and Nick Bjugstad (upper-body) haven’t been back on the ice yet.

    Matthew DeFranks: Blues injuries:

Dylan Holloway (high ankle sprain, six weeks)
Nathan Walker (upper-body, six more weeks)
Jimmy Snuggerud (left wrist surgery, four more weeks)
Jordan Kyrou (lower-body, week to week, hasn’t started skating)
Nick Bjugstad (upper-body, not playing in the next three games)

Eduardo A. Encina: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on forward Brandon Hagel, who left the game early after taking a high forward from Panthers defenseman Seth Jones.

Benjamin Pierce: Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh is day-to-day. They hope goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy can return before Christmas.

NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, and the Minnesota Wild

David Alter: Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev was wearing a regular jersey yesterday.

Terry Koshan: Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube on Tanev: “First practice with contact. We’re going to need more and see where he’s at. He’s not playing tomorrow.”

Berube when asked if Tanev could play before Christmas? “That’s a good question. Have to see how he keeps progressing. It would be great. We’ll see.”

Luke Fox: Maple Leafs coach Berube said it’s a possibility that goaltender Joseph Woll plays tonight.

SinBin.Vegas: Vegas Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said that goaltender Adin Hill and forward William Karlsson remain week-to-week. Defenseman Jeremy Lauzon practiced yesterday, but Cassidy wouldn’t commit to Lauzon being ready for Wednesday’s game.
