The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed massive fines on its players for violating some rules and regulations set up by the board. Bowling allrounder Aamer Jamal faced a massive fine for writing ‘804’ on his Test cap.

Not only Aamer Jamal, team’s current vice-captain in ODIs Salman Ali Agha also faced a heavy fine. Openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique were also not spared by the PCB as they faced some high fines as well.

PCB inflicts massive fines on Pakistan players

According to a report in Samaa TV, the PCB inflicted some heavy fines on Pakistan’s national cricketers for not following the guidelines properly and violating the board’s rules and regulations.

It is believed that a total of PKR 3.3 million was inflicted on the players starting from the Multan Test against England to the away series against South Africa later in the year.

Aamer Jamal faced the most severe punishment as he was fined PKR 1.4 million for writing ‘804’ on his cap during a Test match. Players like Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, and Abdullah Shafique were fined PKR 5,00,000 for returning late to the hotel during Pakistan’s white-ball tour of Australia.

During the tour of South Africa, left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, fast bowler Abbas Afridi, and batter Usman Khan returned two minutes late to the hotel at night. As a result, these players were fined 200 dollars each.

However, the 200 dollars fine was returned back to these players as a reward for Pakistan’s emphatic ODI series win as they clean-swept the hosts South Africa 3-0 in a stunning result.

As per sources The PCB has imposed heavy fines on national players for violating discipline.

Why was Aamer Jamal fined so heavily?

Aamer Jamal is believed to have written ‘804’ on his Test cap. The number holds huge significance as it is related to the legendary Pakistan allrounder and now-jailed politician Imran Khan.

Imran is also a former Prime Minister of the country but is in jail now. Jamal is believed to have written this number on his Test cap to show his solidarity towards him. However, the PCB fined him for violating the guidelines which involves avoiding political, religious, or racial statements on the field.

It is believed that Aamer Jamal wasn’t selected in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad due to this particular reason as the board isn’t happy with his behavior and has a zero-tolerance policy towards such actions.

    Difficult times for Pakistan cricket

Pakistan cricket is facing a lot of issues currently apart from their cricket team not performing well on their field. The constant changes in the administration and the team’s captains have affected the team’s performance in the last few years.

Recently, they bowed out of the first round of their home Champions Trophy campaign after losing their first two matches to New Zealand and India. They finished last in their group behind India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.

They faced plenty of criticism after being eliminated from the first round of the Champions Trophy. The players, alongside the PCB, were targeted for such a decline in their cricketing ecosystem.
