Napoli are back on top of Serie A, albeit in unconvincing fashion after Antonio Conte’s men claimed a 3-2 win over Pisa.
The defending Serie A champions maintained their 100 per cent record to return to the the position in which they entered the fourth round of fixtures and go two points clear of Juventus, who were held by Verona on Saturday.
Billy Gilmour put Napoli in front with a deflected close-range effort in the 39th minute, only for Pisa to level on the hour mark when M’Bala Nazola converted from the penalty spot after Sam Beukema was ruled to have handled in the area.
Leonado Spinazzola’s low drive into the bottom-left corner restored Napoli’s lead 13 minutes later, before substitute Lorenzo Lucca fired into the roof of the net at the near post to seemingly put the game beyond doubt.
Yet Pisa gave themselves hope amid unconvincing defending from Napoli, Lorran pulling one back in the 90th minute following good work from fellow substitute Samuele Angori.
Pisa stay second bottom with just one point from four games.
Napoli are next in action away to Milan in Serie A on Sunday (19:45 BST / 14:45 ET / 11:45 PT), while Pisa visit Torino in the Coppa Italia second round on Thursday (20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT).
