India Women’s National Cricket Team have FINALLY DONE IT. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side have beaten the Laura Wolvaardt-led South Africa to win the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

India crushed South Africa by 52 runs in the summit clash at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai to win their first-ever World Cup in history.

    Team India become WORLD CHAMPIONS

South Africa Women’s National Cricket Team won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first in the match. The home team did a great job while batting first and piled up a huge score of 298/7 on the board.

Shafali Verma was the star of the innings, and she played one of the greatest knocks by an Indian in the history of the ICC Cricket World Cup. She smashed an aggressive 87 runs off 78 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Deepti Sharma also smashed an excellent half-century while Smriti Mandhana (45), Richa Ghosh (34), Jemimah Rodrigues (24), and Harmanpreet Kaur (20) also chipped in with crucial runs.

Defending the target, the hosts kept picking up the wickets at regular intervals, and the only batter who troubled the bowlers was Laura Wolvaardt. The modern-day batting great Wolvaardt slammed a sensational century before being dismissed by Deepti Sharma.

Sharma was also the star of the bowling show as she bagged a historic 5-wicket haul, while Shafali Verma picked up two wickets and Shree Charani got one wicket as India bowled out South Africa for 246 to win the World Cup.

Indian players erupted in wild celebrations after winning the match, while Rohit Sharma, who was in the stands, looked quite emotional and had tears in his eyes seeing Harmanpreet Kaur-led side win the World Cup. Also, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana shed tears of joy after the triumph.

Impact of India’s Women’s World Cup Win!!

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik spoke about the importance of the Women’s World Cup. He said:

“When you come to a game like this, the World Cup final, this is where ambitions become accomplishments. You need to be up for it, but at the same time, you need to manage your heart rate a bit, breathe deep, understand that you have a ball in hand, get that in the right place. If you have a bat in hand, see what the bowler is bowling and react to it instinctively.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself. Yes, today is the kind of day where foreclosures are made, but if you want to be part of that story, it’s all about controlling your heart rate, your emotions, and most importantly, being aware of what the situation is telling you. Play the situation, don’t play the occasion.”

Dinesh Karthik added that the World Cup win would motivate the young girls in India to pick up the bat and ball. He said:

“There are a lot of young girls in India who will be watching this, and somewhere, someone will pick up a bat and say, I want to do something like this. That dream is what these girls are doing. They are going to become women today and inspire a generation to follow.

“In 2017, when Harmanpreet Kaur got that wonderful innings in England against Australia, a lot of people woke up and said, wow, women’s cricket, that looks beautiful. Today is their opportunity to shine. D.Y. Patil is back and you can only see blue, but there are plenty of others outside wanting this Indian dream to live that great story because they have the talent.”
