Matt Marchese: “You said it on the pod today, they requested to interview Julien BriseBois, and they got the Heisman from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Do we think that there’s any other names that are, that might come through here that it’s like, ‘Oh, they interviewed that guy as well.

Like it feels like it’s late in the process for these names to come through, but what have you made of what’s gone on lately and when we might have an answer here?”
Friedman: “So I credit James Myrtle for that. He was the first person to mention that they interviewed a current, or asked for permission to speak to a current NHL GM. My initial thought was that it would be Eric Tulsky, because, you know, he mentioned the media conference, right?
But I heard that was not the case, and it was BriseBois. And I’m not, I mean, hey, like, throw a Hail Mary, right? Like, why not? Why wouldn’t you ask to speak to him? But I don’t think anybody is surprised that the Lightning said no. And I think he’s, may think he’s a really smart guy.
Anyway, I, the answer is, the easy way to answer your question, I don’t know. Like, I always assume that there’s people out there I don’t see. I don’t know everything, and while I think I have a decent handle on who they talk to, on who they talk to, Maddie, I can’t sit here and promise you in good faith that I don’t have, I haven’t missed someone who either they interviewed or asked permission to talk to. These things tend to happen .
As for the timeline, I don’t have one. As long as nobody comes to me and says their pursuit of Sundin has fallen apart, I am still under the assumption that it’s going to be him and John Chayka.”
Marchese: “Okay, so okay, so now here’s my, I just wanted to just loop back on the BriseBois thing. So if you’re asking for permission to interview Julien BriseBois, why, why stop there? Like, maybe they didn’t, but why stop there? Why would you not just, like, run the gamut here? Ask everybody that, that could be available.”
Friedman: “I don’t know that they didn’t.”

Marchese: “No, I’m just saying, like, do you think that that is the process, or that would be a thought in their process?”
Friedman: “I don’t know. Like, I can’t, I, maybe, I mean, I, I would assume that he isn’t the only guy they asked for permission, but I don’t know that. You know, there’s not a lot of people coming up for air right now, Matt, so it’s tough to chat. A lot, a lot of my texts and phone calls are going unanswered, even more than normal.”
