Verma started his career at Railway Youth Cricket Club before refining his technique further at Ankur Academy with Jyotiprakash Tyagi. He was raised by his uncle Amit Verma and his performances in Madhya Pradesh Premier League stole the limelight.
Playing for Bhopal Leopards, he ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer, amassing 273 runs in six matches.
He was called up by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the trials and he impressed many after he smashed 72 runs in a six-over powerplay drill and followed it up with an unbeaten 64 in an eight-over chase.
His impressive performances saw Sunrisers Hyderabad giving him an IPL contract worth ₹30 lakh. Notably, he hasn’t played any FC or List-A match in his career and just featured in one T20 game for Madhya Pradesh before his IPL debut.
