Alexander Nikishin still wants to be traded, and he has no intention of heading back to the KHL
Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: More sources have confirmed that unsigned RFA Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin still wants to be traded. Even though he just won a Stanley Cup, he still doesn’t think he’s a fit.
“It’s better if I keep our conversations just between us,” Tulsky said. “He has every right to expect that when he comes to me, that it’s just between us and not a conversation with the media, and I want to be respectful of that.”
There has been some speculation that the 24-year-old could consider the idea of returning to the KHL.
Sources have confirmed that the Carolina Hurricanes have some interest in Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Can they find a fit? Could Nikishin be a part of that deal? Would Nikishin sign a long-term deal with Winnipeg?

Another Hurricanes player to keep an eye on is pending UFA defenseman Jalen Chatfield. Darren Ferris is his agent, and he has a history of walking his clients to free agency to get the max dollar.
@Uggg_uggg: (translating Pavel Lysenkov interview with Alexander Nikishin’s agent Alexander Chernykh on Match TV) Chernykh said that LeBrun’s report about Nikishin potentially considering returning to the KHL is not true, and that he’s not close to considering the idea of returning and that he’s not going back. As of today, Nikishin is not interested in returning to the KHL. His wife is getting closer to having their baby.
There are many teams that are interested in trading for Nikishin, but the Carolina Hurricanes are refusing to trade him at the moment. He wants to go but they won’t move him.
Shawn Horcoff can prove that he’s the guy who should be running the Detroit Red Wings, despite the Steve Yzerman connection
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – The New Cap Era episode on the Detroit Red Wings front office and how interim GM Shawn Horcoff has a huge opportunity.

“You know, I’ll also say this: the Red Wings disputed something I said on the podcast. And Christopher Ilitch did an interview with one of the Detroit columnists, he said everybody we had permission for, we interviewed. So let me just say that the Red Wings disputed that for the record.
But I think Horcoff is an incredible opportunity here. He has the advantage. He is in the chair. He has a chance to show he can do what nobody else can do right now, and that is show that he is capable of the job.
What would it take for the Winnipeg Jets to move Connor Hellebuyck?
And you know, I’ll say this: when this whole search was going on, there were a lot of rumors. Okay, and as you know, some rumors are true, and some rumors are not true. And one of the rumors was that nobody with an Yzerman connection was going to get this job. They wanted a different kind of approach, or idea, or skill set. And you know that world doesn’t always work that way.
Here’s somebody with an obvious Yzerman connection who gets the chance. And if I was Shawn Horcoff, I would be like, I’m proving to you that I am the right person for this. This is my job, and I’m never letting go of it.”
