    In a high-octane encounter at the picturesque Bellerive Oval, India clinched a thrilling five-wicket victory over Australia, levelling the five-match T20I series, following a washed-out opener and an Australian win in the second game.

    After India captain, Suryakumar Yadav, won the toss and elected to field, hoping to utilize the early seam movement and the looming threat of dew, the Indian bowlers immediately justified the decision. The Australian top order crumbled under the disciplined attack of the pace and mystery spin duo. Travis Head (6 off 4) and captain Mitchell Marsh (11 off 14) departed cheaply, followed by Josh Inglis (1 off 7), leaving Australia reeling at a precarious position in the powerplay.

    At 30 for 3, the innings lay in tatters, but the arrival of Tim David and Marcus Stoinis initiated a spectacular counter-attack. The two veterans stitched together a game-changing, rapid-fire partnership that not only salvaged the innings but propelled the total towards a formidable target. David, in particular, was magnificent, demonstrating raw power and calculated aggression to smash 74 runs off just 38 deliveries, which included eight fours and five towering sixes. Stoinis provided the perfect foil, anchoring and attacking in equal measure for his crucial 64 runs off 39 balls.

    Despite the late wickets of Stoinis and David falling to the eventual Player of the Match, Arshdeep Singh, a brisk cameo from Matthew Short (26 off 15) ensured Australia reached a competitive total of 186 for 6.

    India’s bowling was a mix of brilliance and expense. Arshdeep Singh was the star, claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs, including the crucial breakthroughs in the death overs. Varun Chakaravarthy chipped in with 2 wickets for 33, while the economical Jasprit Bumrah restricted the flow, conceding only 26 runs in his four overs.

    India’s chase: The Sundar storm

    Chasing 187 on a fast-track Hobart surface, India’s top order set a blistering pace. Openers Abhishek Sharma (25 off 16) and Shubman Gill (15 off 12) provided a quick launchpad, but it was the pyrotechnics of Suryakumar Yadav (24 off 11) that truly put Australia on the back foot, maintaining a run rate well above 10.

    However, the Australian bowlers, led by the consistent Nathan Ellis (3/36), managed to peg India back with timely wickets, preventing any batsman from settling into a massive score. Tilak Varma (29 off 26) played a necessary anchoring role, but as the required rate crept up in the middle overs, the game hung in the balance.

    The defining moment came with the arrival of Washington Sundar at the crease. Displaying exceptional clean hitting and maturity under pressure, Sundar launched an incredible assault, smashing 49 not out off just 23 balls, featuring three fours and 4 maximums. Supported effectively by Jitesh Sharma’s explosive 22 not out off 13, Sundar’s sensational effort took the fight out of the Australian side. The duo ensured a stress-free finish, reaching the target of 188 with nine balls to spare in the 19th over.
