Milan Unlikely to Accept Man City’s Opening Bid for Reijnders

AC Milan star midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has reportedly become one of Manchester City’s main targets to bolster their squad. However, City’s attempt to sign the Dutchman might face strong resistance from Milan as the Serie A outfit won’t let him leave easily.

Man City Plan Opening Bid for Milan Star’s Reijnders

Pep Guardiola’s side are not having a great season by their standard as they failed to win any trophies this season. Their struggle this season has forced the Citizens to make some important investments for next season, and one of their targets is Milan star Reijnders.

The Dutch international has been showcasing an excellent performance for club and country, notably with his goal-scoring prowess. Man City believe that Reijnders’ skillset would fit well with what Guardiola is looking for in the midfield department.

According to multiple reports, including from Fabrizio Romano, City will soon make an official bid to Milan for their 26-year-old midfielder. The Premier League outfit are planning to propose an offer of around 55 million euros to prize up Reijnders from the Rossoneri’s hand.

Milan Unlikely to Accept City’s Opening Bid

However, according to several Italian media, via Milannews, Milan are unlikely to accept Man City’s 50 million plus offer. The Rossoneri have all the cards in their hands as they have already extended Reijnders’ contract until 2030 last March.

That situation means that Milan have no obligation to immediately part ways with Reijnders, especially since the player is not desperate to leave San Siro. The Red and Black squad reportedly value their Dutch star more than Sandro Tonali who was sold for around 70 million euros (including bonuses) to Newcastle a couple of seasons back.

This means that Milan might only open to consider a proposal of at least 70 million euros from any teams that want to snatch their midfield maestro. Nevertheless, Man City’s opening bid will just be the start of a potentially long transfer saga, something that the English club previously experienced with Josko Gvardiol.

Still, even if the Rossoneri might miss out on the Champions League, unless Reijnders is keen on leaving, the Italian side can resist Man City’s approach. Unless, there’s a massive proposal from the Premier League side, it remains unlikely that Milan will let their new star leave next summer.
