NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians‘ star pacer Jasprit Bumrah turned mentor after delivering yet another clinical performance, offering Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Tushar Deshpande a valuable post-match masterclass at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.
The conversation, which also included RR’s Dhruv Jurel, was shared by Rajasthan Royals on social media — giving fans a rare glimpse into Bumrah’s elite mindset.

The moment came after MI’s thumping 100-run win over RR. Mumbai posted a massive 217/2 on the board, powered by a 116-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma (53) and Ryan Rickelton (61). Suryakumar Yadav (48*) and Hardik Pandya (48*) finished strong, while MI’s bowlers then bundled RR out for just 117 in 16.1 overs.
Who’s that IPL player?
But the highlight came post-match, when Bumrah gave Deshpande advice on building a winner’s mindset. He said, “Aur thoda mindset wise aggressive rehna hai. Aggressive in the sense, aisa nahi ke har ball pe danda uda do. But, main na acha ball dalunga par main out karunga. Chal maar le, ek chakka marle, kitna marega? Tu maar, theek hai, phir main aur jor se marunga [Have to be aggressive mentally — not trying to hit the stumps every ball, but thinking, ‘I’ll bowl well and get you out.’ If you hit me for a six, fine. I’ll come back even harder].

The exchange captured Bumrah’s champion mentality — precise, fearless, and relentless — qualities pacers like Deshpande would do well to absorb.
