The Boys star Erin Moriarty has revealed a life-changing health diagnosis.

In a candid Instagram post, the 30-year-old actress shared she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease a month ago.

According to Mayo Clinic, Graves’ disease affects the thyroid gland and “causes the body to make too much thyroid hormone”, which can affect other organs as well.

Symptoms can include feeling irritable, fatigue, slight tremors, weight loss and more.

“Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body,” Moriarty wrote, noting that people have different experiences.

“One thing I can say: if I hadn’t chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would’ve caught this sooner.”

Moriarty said that within 24 hours of receiving treatment after her Graves’ disease diagnosis, she “felt the light coming back on”.

“It’s been increasing in strength ever since,” she added.

The actress encouraged for those “dimming, even slightly, go get checked”.

“Don’t “suck it up” and transcend suffering; you deserve to be comfy,” she continued.

    “S–t’s hard enough as is.”

In her post, the star included screenshots of text conversations with her parents.

In a message to her mum, Moriarty said she felt “so s–t and removed from who I am, I can’t live like this forever”.

“There aren’t moments anymore, not even a passing five seconds, when I feel normal.”

”It’s not just fatigue – it’s an ineffable, system-wide cry for help, and I don’t know how long I can remain in this state.”

In another message to her dad, this time from what appeared to be after her diagnosis, Moriarty said she could “already feel a world of a difference”.

Moriarty has starred as a main character on The Boys since its first season in 2019.

The star isn’t the only actress to share a Graves’ disease diagnosis.

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley was diagnosed in September 2023.

Her diagnosis came after noticing symptoms while filming a movie.

She’d lost weight, felt fatigued and developed hand tremors and a racing heart rate.

“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly’,” she revealed in a 2024 interview with Women’s Health.
