Role Model and Johnson have been romantically linked since December
Role Model and Dakota Johnson have taken the next step in their relationship: music collaborators.
At a late-night show in Chicago on Thursday, July 30, Role Model debuted a new song called “Love I You” — and it features voice notes from the actress.
According to a fan video posted on TikTok, Role Model, 29, sings “Hey, I think you’re perfect,” and a female voice responds, “You say that to everyone.”
Then, he asks, “K, well is it working?” and a female voice responds, “Yeah, but don’t tell anyone.”
The singer-songwriter says she seems “uncertain” and she insists he’s “just having fun” — but Role Model says she doesn’t “know him.” He then talks himself up and says he has “money.”
“Oh, you think you’re big time?” she responds, also calling him “Mr. Big Night.”
“Aw, f—, you don’t know me,” he sings at the end of the video.
“Love I You” will appear on Role Model’s upcoming album Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, out Aug. 7.
Speaking with PEOPLE in June, the “Compromise” singer said the album explored themes of time and feeling stagnant through an alter ego.
“I’m hitting that age now where a lot of people are getting married around me, and there’s a lot of feeling stagnant and feeling like everybody’s moving ahead in their lives and taking those steps and starting families or just falling in love or moving away and always kind of felt stagnant,” the “Frances” singer explained.

He added, “So that’s a lot lyrically about that. There’s a lot about wanting to go back in time and change other things in my life. It just seemed like time was obviously very much on my mind throughout all the songs I wrote.”
Role Model was first linked to Johnson, 36, in December of last year. Since then, the pair has been spotted getting cozy on numerous occasions, and a source told PEOPLE in April their relationship is “more than a fling.”
At the time, the source said that Johnson “does really like” Role Model “but is also taking things slow after her previous long-term relationship.” Johnson had an on-and-off relationship with Chris Martin from Oct. 2017 to June 2025. Meanwhile, Role Model was previously linked to YouTuber Emma Chamberlain from 2020 to 2023.
