Mark Scheig: The Columbus Blue Jackets and RFA forward Adam Fantilli are talking to each other daily. The Blue Jackets are still confident that a deal will get done before the start of training camp. It’s looking like this deal will got down to the wire.
Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins’ having a shoulder injury, one name to keep an eye on is 39-year-old free agent Cam Talbot. He played with the Detroit Red Wings the past two seasons and could be willing to sign a low salary deal with performance bonuses. Talbot and Jet Greaves played together at the World Campionships last year.
Rick Dhaliwal: Elias Pettersson’s agent, J.P. Barry, when asked if the Canucks were close to trading Pettersson or if they asked him to waive his no-movement clause this offseason: “No that didn’t happen.”
RFA defensemen Simon Edvinsson and Alexander Nikishin still need new deals. The Predators were kicking around Nikishin

And Nikishin, same deal. Like, he already wanted a big number. How does he feel about what the what Buium did?
So I do think for defensemen, the calculus has been changed. Not even so much by the Makar deal; it changed everything, but by the Buium deal.
Nikishan, by the way, I’ve heard Nashville was kicking around there too.
